David Bloch, OD

Dr. David Bloch has been practicing in San Diego County since 1997. He has experience treating patients of all ages and many different types of eye difficulties. He also owns and operates Children's Optometic of North County, a unique eye care facility dedicated to the development , correction, and rehabilitation of eye problems in children.

Dr. Bloch received his degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1988 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. His post-doctoral work included a residency in Pediatric Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he subsequently taught as a clinical instructor for the pediatric, contact lens, and general optometry departments. He also worked with the partially sighted during his internship at the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute in Chicago.

Dr. Bloch is a member of the American Optometric Association, College of Vision Development, and TLC Laser Eye Centers. He holds Therapeutic Optometry Licenses in four states for the treatment of surface ocular disease. He has published a chapter in a book Problems in Optometry on the subject of Lazy Eye, and currently writes a column in School News Roll Call discussing how vision problems affect school performance, the learning process, and reading ability.

Dr. Bloch resides in Carlsbad with his wife and two children. He has been a semi-professional magician since his teens and regularly performs magic tricks for his pediatric patients at the conclusion of their exams.
